Computer Science Professor Nina Marhamati and Art Professor Sena Clara Creston are working together to build an interactive art installation “Mood Spring” designed to reflect the emotional atmosphere. As viewers navigate an environment projecting seasons changing, “Mood Spring” interprets the language and tone of people speaking to be pleasant or unpleasant. The weather reflects the mood, changing from peaceful when it is pleasant, to tumultuous when it is unpleasant. Their Abstract Visual Response to Emotional State of User Interaction was accepted for the 23rd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in July.
