Aimee Graham, instructional support tech for the art department and Sara Kassis, a lecturer in the physics department, helped organize a campus tour for students of Grant Union High School from Sacramento. The students were able to meet with the engineering department and view student demos and presentations and the Art Gallery and art department where they learned about SSU's permanent art collection and student opportunities in the gallery. Their last stop was the geology department to learn about classes, field trips, and to experience using the augmented reality sandbox. The students then had a tour of SSU's student housing.
This tour was the result of connections made when the art department and the engineering department worked together earlier this year at the SMUD's solar regatta where students worked together to design, build and race their own solar powered boats.
