Stage Director for In the Heights, Marie Ramirez Downing, will be bringing some of the cast members to perform a piece from the musical with the 4th and 5th grade music classes of Cali Calmécac Language Academy on December 15th at 6:30pm in their school gymnasium.
Ramirez Downing, also a professor in the Department of Theatre Arts & Dance and Director of the Acting Program, will be joined by Kathryn Rodriguez who plays "Nina" in the show and some of the other ensemble cast to sing "Breathe" as a part of Cali Calmécac's Holiday Concert.

Cali Calmécac Language Academy brings together Spanish and English speaking students to help them become bilingual and bi-literate while promoting cross-cultural understanding and academic excellence. Programs such as intensive, small-group reading instruction, paraprofessionals, after-school programs, carefully leveled ELD classes for English learners, and cross-age tutoring provide extra support for students who are not thriving at grade-level.
