Avery Flasher-Duzgunes, a Fall 2021 graduate from the Department of Theatre Arts & Dance’s Theatre Studies concentration, has been named a co-recipient of the Student Dramaturgy Award for Region 7 (Northwest) for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), presented in partnership with Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA).

In his submission, Avery wrote about the process of working on the play, and shared text analyses, research, and program notes that were part of his work as dramaturg on the show. Avery was mentored in his work by Prof. Cain and by Scott Horstein, the head of the Theatre Studies concentration.
As part of the Region 7 KCACTF virtual festival this January and February, Avery participated in several online workshops with student dramaturgs from across the country, led by leading professional dramaturgs in the field. As part of the award Avery will:

represent Region 7 at the National Festival this spring
-
receive a cash prize
-
receive a copy of Jane Barnette’s Adapturgy and
-
