On February 16, SSU’s premier choral ensemble, SonoVoce, under the direction of Dr. Jenny Bent, performed at the California All-State Music Education Conference in Fresno, CA. One of only two college ensembles chosen to perform at this prestigious, state-wide event, SonoVoce’s performance was particularly recognized for its programmatic diversity, performance polish, and the singers’ musical and dramatic expression.
Additionally, SonoVoce’s director, Dr. Jenny Bent, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities in the Department of Music, received the California Music Educators Association’s (CMEA) 2023 Pearson/Scott Foresman/Silver Burdett Choral Educator Award, a state-wide honor which recognizes “excellence in choral education and performance."
